In March of 2018 we began a Prayer Room at OKC Community Church with the heart that we would be like watchmen posted on the walls, never silent day or night in prayers for the Lord to do a work in our city, our church, and in ourselves. We desire to see God do a work among us that even if we told people they wouldn't believe it! Please sign up for a prayer shift and experience the powerful work God is doing through prayer. It's amazing what happens when we stop giving all our attention to our busyness and we enter into intentional and hopeful prayer.
ONLINE SIGN UPS are available Mondays - Saturdays. Online sign ups will also be paused during any of our in person gatherings to allow for in person sign ups.
OKC COMMUNITY PRAYER GUIDE
Our prayer guide uses what we call a Prayer Wheel that helps unite our church in specific prayers. We don’t promote this as the only way to pray or the right way to pray. These are simply good prayer practices combined with some of our church’s united hopes and prayers to see God move in us, our church, our city, and world.
We suggest setting aside and hour or so to pray through, however you can pray this as quickly or slowly as you want. Feel free to even focus in and only through a part of the wheel and come back another time to pray through the other part.
1. INVITE - “COME HOLY SPIRIT”
Prepare your heart by reading a Psalm (Suggested Psalms: 63, 100, 95, 148, 23, 139, 149, 150). Invite God’s presence with the ancient and powerful prayer, “Come Holy Spirit.” Slow your heart and mind and get fully present with him.
2. PRAISE - “GOD IS GOOD”
Worship, praise, and thank God for his goodness! Pray about what and why you are grateful to God! Feel free to write or draw praises, prayers, and scriptures as you pray.
3. FORGIVE - “GIVE & RECEIVE”
Humble yourself, confess your sins, and receive God’s forgiveness. Consider if there is anyone you need to give your forgiveness. Forgiveness may be your breakthrough.
4. CONTEND - “CHURCH PRAYERS”
As a church we’ve been contending in these four prayers that are rooted in our hope for revival. These are our prayers! Let’s unite by contending!
• MORE SPIRIT: pray for the Spirit to come upon us like fire and transform us.
• MORE SALVATIONS: pray for an evangelistic outpouring of new salvations.
• MORE HEALINGS: pray for supernatural healings of all types in our church.
• MORE BREAKTHROUGH: pray for God’s power to breakthrough for you and others.
5. ASK - “IN JESUS NAME”
Ask and pray in the name of Jesus. It is only through Jesus that our prayers have power.
• PERSONAL: Pray boldly for at least two personal needs, hopes, or requests.
• PEOPLE: Pray boldly and intercede for at least two other people.
• CITY + WORLD: Pray boldly over at least two specific needs of our city/world.
6. SILENCE - “SLOW DOWN & LISTEN ”
End by slowing down even more! Be silent and sit in God’s presence with no agenda. Listen and take note of what God brings to your mind/heart. Give thanks to God, Amen.
